The campaign to launch the Digital Archive came to a conclusion on Thursday when Jim Williams gave a talk to the Felixstowe Photographic Society, with Bernard Rayner & Stan Cracknell as his guests. Jim’s son, Leighton, gave a hand with the presentation. In the audience was Geoff Cordy (whose Father-in-Law was Montague Baker, former Bandmaster of the Corps) who was involved with the production of the book, ‘A Pictorial History’.
Another link to the evening was the first picture in the Archive depicted the first picture of the Corps outside the Gospel Hall, later known as the Ambulance Hall and is now the site of Broadway House, where the meeting was being held.
It was obvious the Salvation Army were held in high regard by the members and the evening concluded with several questions about the Archive and the Army in general. At the end of the evening, Jim was presented with a donation to Salvation Army funds by the Club treasurer.
The interview that Bernard and Jim gave to Felixstowe TV several weeks ago can now be viewed on their website and can be accessed by clicking onto the link. The refurbishments are also shown to good effect.
