The Alpha course

An introduction to the Christian faith

The Alpha course is a gentle and enjoyable introduction to the Christian faith. In a relaxed environment we listen to a series of filmed talks by a very humorous, charming, and well informed Christian speaker, Nicky Gumbel, a Church of England minister.

These are much more than just a series of talks. The camera observes the thoughtful faces of his audience as they listen and consider his words. As you watch them, listening and relaxed, you too may feel part of a ‘heart to heart’ conversation, enriched and keen to explore more. There are some lovely belly laughs in this too as Nicky shares life at a human level.

You will hear a bit about who Jesus is, why he died, about the Bible, about prayer, and get a little closer to realizing the personality of God as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and perhaps get a feel for why generation after generation of  believers are so in love with him.

Our group will be no more than about 12, with Salvationist leaders Louise Brown and Grahame Hall to help you consider, discuss (if you wish to) and find answers to questions you may want to ask.

Times, dates and topics are given below. These will all be held here at the hall on Friday evenings starting on 18th February. Toward the end of the course we invite you to enjoy a Saturday together to share a meal , hear 3 talks on a special theme, and offer you the opportunity to further reflect on what all this may mean to you.

The course is easy listening and we hope you will make some special friends through this shared experience of discovery.

So if you would like to attend, or would like to ask any questions, please give me a call.

We would be delighted to hear from you.
