Last year (2008) sixteen of our local churches in Felixstowe and the Trimleys took part in this quite exciting day, as well as most churches throughout the county. Sixteen members of our fellowship participated and were sponsored to a total amount of £836.30.
We in fact raised the second highest amount of money in the 16 local churches taking part, being runners-up to Old Felixstowe Church who collected in sponsorship the magnificent total of £1187.80. Of all monies raised, 50% is returned to the church of your choice (hopefully Felixstowe Salvation Army) and the other goes to support the repair and maintenance of the fabric of many of our lovely old churches and chapels throughout this county.
How good it would be if we could double the number of people taking part this year. Please see either Bernard Rayner or George Bewers for a sponsor form.
Some Church members in Felixstowe formed walking groups and visited other churches en-bloc, with each person obtaining their own sponsors. Others took folk in their car (those unable to cycle or walk too far) with each obtaining their individual sponsors, these were able to spend a little more time at each church they visited and it was a good opportunity to give those folk an outing. (See Bernard/George for list of nearby village churches which will be open)
Once again, the Brownies at Kirton are laying on 'excellent value lunches/snacks’ in the Kirton Church Hall from 12 noon to 3pm.
Walking, Cycling routes are available-(please ask!)
