2010 Christmas Presents Appeal

From the 20 November until 18 December 2010, members of the public are invited and encouraged to donate gifts for children, families, older people and the homeless. The gifts will be then be distributed to those in need in local communities.

Over many years, millions of children, young people, families and older people have already benefited from the gifts donated to The Salvation Army. By giving a gift to our Christmas Present Appeal you can make a real difference in someone's life at Christmas!

How the appeal works:

  • The general public are encouraged to buy a new gift or toy and take it to a local ‘drop off' point. Salvation Army churches all over the UK make arrangements with local shops and outlets where people can deliver their new, unwrapped gifts for the Appeal. There is also a national partnership with the health and beauty retailer Superdrug, and in many places donations may be made through Superdrug stores as well as other local businesses and outlets. Look out for Christmas Present Appeal posters to indicate that a store is a ‘drop off' point.

  • Members of the public are also encouraged to organise a Christmas Present Appeal collection in their workplace, school, university, gym or other community group and encourage colleagues/ classmates to bring in gifts for the appeal. For more information click here.

  • If delivery to the local Salvation Army is difficult, volunteers from The Salvation Army will collect the toys from the shops and offices and deliver to the local church or headquarters where they will be wrapped by members, friends and volunteers.

  • The gifts will be distributed to those in need via The Salvation Army's own local networks, through local groups, charities and social services to ensure that as many families, children and individuals as possible benefit. The toys and gifts will be distributed without discrimination or prejudice.
  • PRESENTS CAN BE LEFT AT SUPERDRUG, HAMILTON ROAD OR AT THE SALVATION ARMY HALL, COBBOLD ROAD
